GET READY BMW, HERE WE COME

After a good night sleep we are ready for the big day. The hotel offers breakfast which turns out to have fabulous offerings. Smoked fish, croissants, scrambled eggs, meat balls, wieners (of course) and a variety of cheeses, meats, yogurt, fruit, and juices, champagne and on and on. We have our fill because we're not sure what the rest of the day holds. We are in walking distance of our destination. BMW WELT. So off we go in search of my new car. The weather is a bit overcast with a slight chill in the air. Thankfully no rain, though I have to admit we are rather giddy as we check in and meet with the associate assigned to take care of all the necessary paperwork. We are grateful for all the English speaking Germans and are jealous of their bi-lingual abilities. I sign my name on several documents and we are done with the legalities. We are given some very important driving instructions. DO NOT TURN R ON A RED LIGHT. DO NOT PASS ON THE RIGHT. YOU MUST CARRY A SAFTEY VEST IN THE CAR. TWO VESTS by the way, we are told this is how they make big money if you do not have them in the side pockets of the car doors.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE COUNTRY STICKER IN THE WINDSHIELD. Etc etc
Thank you. Now we are free to explore the museum and take a tour of the production plant. We needn't have worried about where our next meal was coming from as we were given the VIP treatment in the lounge. Food, beer, coffee, water all served in a luxurious setting. We meet people from all over the country all of us there for the same reason. We meet a couple from Eugene and a gentleman from Happy Valley. Go figure..... The tour proves to be very interesting. The technology is beyond belief. The robots or as our non-native speaking tour guide pronounces "roborts" are out of this world. Next I would like to take a tour of how the "roborts" are made. Really unbelievable. I have to say these Germans have it pretty we'll dialed in. I am in awe. Ok. We have seen everything there is to see not sure how many engines I need to see at the museum, but I'm pretty sure I have seen enough.
We return to the lounge waiting for our turn. Delivery scheduled for 4:30 with a briefing at 4:00. Now I'm getting nervous. You know that feeling of driving a new car off the lot. This is that on steroids. Sven is our appointed "guy" and he briefs us on the BMW philosophy and I even get to drive my new car on a simulator. “OK Mrs. Peterson, let's go get your car". We go down a flight of stairs where my car is turning slowly on a lazy Susan, lights shining on it for dramatic effect.

SO COOL!

Now we just have to find our way back to the hotel.  Oh wait, we have state of the art navigation system.  Now we just have to figure out how to use the navigation system.......
